About

The FSFA was established in 1968. It is a family oriented, nonprofit organization dedicated to promote and advance the enjoyment of sport fishing in the Space Coast area and throughout the state of Florida. The Club is actively involved in resource conservation, artificial reef building, youth projects and community service. Through education and economic contribution, the FSFA strives to do its part to preserve and enhance the precious marine resources for future generations to enjoy.

The FSFA formed an Angler Rating and Competitive Angling System including Club Records that serves as a means for each member to achieve rating levels of competence and advance to the highest rating of "Grand Master". It also provides a means for members to compete on an annual basis for points accumulated and many associated awards. Refer to the "Grand Masters" section to review the names of past and current FSFA members who achieved this highest rating level. You will no doubt recognize some of the names as being among the best anglers and guides in the area and throughout the state.

Starting in 1968, the FSFA organized and sponsored the annual Offshore Slam Fishing Tournament headquartered out of Port Canaveral. In the 1970's and 1980's, this tournament grew to become the largest one day, single venue fishing tournament in the country. Even with the proliferation of competing tournaments in the 1990's and 2000's to date, the FSFA Offshore Slam remains one of the largest paid entry tournament events each year out of Port Canaveral and is a favorite and annual highlight for family anglers in the Space Coast area.

The Club has organized and sponsored the deployment of a number of artificial reefs offshore the Port Canaveral area.  These include the Hummingbird, Shelby Lee (1996), Lois DuBois, Damocles and FSFA Site 2 (culverts) (2005).
